Gigs: Fat Boy Slim @ Big Beach Boutique 2008 (Brighton Beach)
As many already know, this weekend rolled Fat Boy Slim in Brighton, more precisely in the Big Beach Boutique (it's like "red beach" in Ubatuba)
He was sooo Brazilian, and I, with strictly outrage:
The beach is simply amazing, the weather, the sun, the warmth. Despite having gone alone, I felt very comfortable in the early hours, walking along the sidewalk.
To old men playing botch I found!
In addition, music is everything. It is the soundtrack of our lives. And the band that was playing at the bar sandy beach could bring an incredible atmosphere. Felt like calling all e-dubliners and friends sampa can take a beer sitting on a table in the bar, just enjoying the music.
Watch the video:
On top of the atmosphere and the music of Fat Boy, the irony of fate, was there (this time without the Homer) in another cultural event! The famous or not so much festival food and drink only what was going on that weekend!
Among the attractions of the festival even had a booth with Brazilian feijoada chips typically Brazilian!
The tent belonged to Brazilians, of course, and the price was very fair, as you can see in the picture: 2 pounds for 10 mini-salted saborossíssimos ![]()
Brigthon is a passionate city. I think the mix of nostalgia + sun + party atmosphere left me wanting to spend another month there! He even had a voleyzinho in the sand:
Anyway, I was there for the Fat Boy, and this theory was supposed to post about it. So here we go:
The show was scheduled to start 16horas, with some DJs, and later the famous Fat Boy Slim, the 20 hours.
I got the 16:44, I met a group of friends at the entrance, and even did a nozzle security (photo)
As there was not very full, we get very close to the stage, when it came our first disappointment: the width of the "track". Despite the beach wide enough, the part for the show was fine and very long. It was like an area for the marathon, you know? Not right? Let me explain. More like this:
In this photo of it show the width of the track. Behind the toilet was the beach. Nevertheless, we were very happy, having fun. Behold, the time comes: Fat Boy Slim on Stage!
The song selection was amazing, and although sometimes seem that the sound was low, it was incredible. Highlight for Right Here, Right now:
Unfortunately the joy ended early. 10:18 h our friend Fat Boy had turned off his equipment and was leaving home, make dinner for their children.
Still pretty excited, we decided to go for an After (as the name implies, is the party After that comes after the party). The place was pretty cool, a sonzera fantastic, and ended up only 5 of matina!
5 am, the beach, that cold wind, and do not forget that we are in Europe. Ready, I froze! The cold was absurd. It was not raining but the wind coming from the beach was very strong and cold, then, remember, bring a sweater.
On Sunday we enjoyed a little more sun, and 3 hours left to catch the train pra Stansted (3 connections are: Brighton -> Victoria -> Tottenham Hale -> Stansted Airport)
Turns out the guy who sold me the tickets (for the guy who works at the box of the train) had not warned me that on Sunday the Victoria Line -> Tottenham Hale does not work!
"With a thousand monkeys Batman! And now? "
Victoria took the train to Tower Hill, and from there took the Circle Line (okay, okay, I did not know what could have caught the Circle Line to Victoria, was dead tired, hungry and wanted to leave soon).
Well, the Circle Line went down at Liverpool Street station, which has an Express to the airport from Stansted. I waited for the train departed and arrived at the airport 19 hours in point. My flight was at 19:35. I ran to the check-in but was too late. They had already closed the check-ins and had to move to the next flight.
Well, Ryan Air has cheap tickets, nice, but it is another tip: NEVER be late. I paid 50 pounds (68 euros) for having "missed the plane" and the next flight was only 6:30 am on Monday. I tristaaaaaço, of course.
Stansted airport has no carpet, so I had to lie on the stone floor it. Sleep was both overturning and woke up at 4 am, when the balcony of Ryanair opens. I was the first to check in, ran to the gate area and I was there to sign on.
Some glitches, but nothing that made me let go or regret. Brighton is amazing, the show was amazing, the weather and even better people. I hope to return there soon.
